This pre-owned 2018 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue, commonly known as the R9, recreates one of the most celebrated electric guitars ever made: the original 1959 Les Paul Standard.

Built during Gibson Custom Shop's Historic Reissue era, this R9 combines a figured maple top with a lightweight solid mahogany back, solid mahogany neck, and Indian rosewood fingerboard. The body is constructed without weight relief, while the neck utilizes a traditional long-tenon joint and a substantial yet comfortable '59-style profile.

A pair of Gibson Custombucker Alnico III humbuckers provides the vintage-inspired response these Historic Reissues are known for, with the clarity, dynamics, harmonic complexity, and warmth associated with classic PAF-style pickups. Traditional Les Paul controls provide independent volume and tone adjustment for each pickup along with a three-way selector.

The hardware follows the vintage-inspired Historic formula with an ABR-1 bridge, lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Kluson-style single-line/single-ring tuners, gold top-hat knobs, and nickel hardware.

This example is in excellent pre-owned condition with very light play wear. There is a small ding along the front edge at the waist, as well as some discoloration at the heel on the back of the guitar. Please inspect all photos closely for the best representation of its condition and contact us with any questions.

We measured the neck depth at approximately .85" at the 1st fret and .95" at the 12th fret. As with all hand measurements of a curved neck, slight variation is possible depending on exact caliper placement. The guitar weighs 9 lbs 1 oz on our scale.
