Gibson's Burstbucker™ pickups, first introduced in the early 1990s, were designed to recreate the magic of the original Patent Applied For humbucker™ pickups. The Burstbucker™ line — Types 1, 2, and 3 — uses historically unbalanced coil windings and Alnico 2 magnets to capture the subtle variations and airy, full tone of true, classic humbuckers. When overdriven, they produce the magical, slightly enhanced high-end distortion that made the originals famous.
The Burstbuckers feature vintage braided two-conductor wiring and are not wax potted. Burstbucker™ Type 1 has a lower output and is excellent for the neck position.
