Introduced in the mid 1950's, the Country Western is essentially a natural top version of the popular Southern Jumbo. This original slope shoulder variant was made until they switched over to a square shoulder in 1962, making this 1960 a fine example of the original Country Western guitar. This guitar showcases what made those 1960 Gibson guitars sound so good - lightly built, appropriately braced, and clean workmanship. With that highly coveted Gibson sound - woody and big with a lot of headroom for heavier playing. This guitar sings with resonance all down the neck.
Key Features:
- Sitka spruce top with Honduran mahogany back, sides, and neck
- 1960 original slope shoulder model
- Original hardware
- Low C neck carve profile
- Nut Width : 1.66 in
- Neck thickness at first fret : .78 in
- Includes non-original hard shell case
Vintage Notes: This guitar example is player grade with some body cracks that have been stably repaired, and some finish wear you would expect from a guitar this old. This guitar will most likely need a neck reset at some point in the near future to get it back to its ideal playing shape. At the moment it's at 9/64 at the 12 fret on the low E side and there isnt a ton of room on the saddle.
