This player grade 1966 Fender Stratocaster is a highly desirable "transitional" CBS-era guitar featuring a larger headstock, "F" tuners, and a veneer rosewood fingerboard. Known for its comfortable medium C-shape neck, it remains a staple for vintage tone with a 3-way switch, nitrocellulose finish, and grey-bottom pickups.
- Headstock: Large headstock with a "transitional" logo (usually with 3 patent numbers).
- Neck Profile: Medium C-shape, with a veneer rosewood fingerboard
- Pickups: Grey-bottom pickups with cloth-covered wires. Bridge pickup may be non-original as it has a black bobbin, but some pickups had black bobbins during this period and Fender was just installing whatever they had available. Some wiring has been spliced and replaced.
- Bridge: "F" stamped tuners (replacing the earlier Kluson Deluxe tuners) and a standard synchronized tremolo.
- Pickguard: 3-ply white with crack near neck pickup screw.
- Finish: Refinished Olympic white and relic'd over time
- Electronics: Original setups used a 3-way pickup selector, not the 5-way switch found on later models. This original switch is very loose as well.
- Case: Does not include original case, but comes with a very high quality deluxe gig bag.
