Feast your eyes on this rare ES style guitar from Gibson's Custom Shop Historic collection - The ES-336. Made originally from only 1996-1998, this 1997 model was Gibson's very first attempt to take the larger body ES-335 and shrink it down into a comfortable size with additional features.
The more interesting of which includes a completely solid single piece mahogany back and sides (as opposed to the laminate of the ES-335 and later ES-339), and a solid carved, figured, book-matched maple top. Sporting a rare "snakehead" style headstock which Gibson advertised as a "sleek, new peghead design for straighter string pull", this guitar has an iconic look and feel as part of Gibson's late 90's custom shop historic releases.
This guitar comes in a stunning Wine Red finish and includes the original hard shell case which - along with its excellent condition and all original parts - makes this guitar an absolutely beautiful find. Later replaced by the CS-336, and then the ES-339, an original ES-336 from 1997 is an important part of Gibson's history in developing its electric Spanish guitars.
