The Thinline Telecaster came into production in 1968 and it was a significant change in offering to the now 20 year old design of the original telecaster. The Thinline brought hollowed out treble and bass bouts and an F hole to significantly reduce the weight of the guitar. These also changed the tonality of the guitar a bit and gave them a bit more of an acoustic response that some players really liked. The first run of thinline telecasters was fairly short lived and thus these beauties are fairly rare these days.
This particular guitar has the usual signs of wear for the time. There is a noticeable Gouge on the guitar above the pickguard by the cutaway and a smaller one on the top bout where the players arm would rest. The finish has some checking and cracking as is normal for its age. Please note that the neck pickup has slightly demagnetized over time resulting in slightly lower output.
