The Fender Jaguar is one of the wild ones. Initially a bit of a failure for Fender when it was introduced in 1962, the offset beast was aimed at Surf Rock aficionados. The guitar had an initial 13 year production run before being taken off the presses. However, due to their lower asking prices on the used markets than Telecasters or Strats, and the quirky nature of all the extra tonal switches and rollers, the Jaguar saw a resurgence in the 80s and 90s with more Punk, Alternative and Shoegaze style groups looking to fetch a great guitar for a little less dough. That resurgence continues today as Fender has a number of Jaguar models available at each price point.
